Alcohol inks are a fun and easy way to color metal charms. Here’s how!
Print these instructions
Stamping Blank (shown with 25mm Sterling Silver Round Stamping Charm)
5 Piece Nylon Brush Set
ICE Resin, 8 ounces - optional
Inkssentials Glossy Accents™
Inkssentials Crackle Accents™
We chose two different colors of inks to show how the colors can blend. Try using one or more colors for different effects.
We added the colors separately. Try adding two colors at the same time for a different effect.
The ink can be very messy. This technique takes some finesse. Work over scrap paper or a covered surface to catch any spills.
You will need a metal piece, one or more alcohol inks.
Carefully add a drop or two of the ink onto the metal.
Tilt the metal to move the ink over the surface. Do this carefully to prevent spilling.
Let the ink dry thoroughly.
Add your second color.
Tilt the metal to move the ink over the surface.
Let dry. Add additional drops of ink, as much as you like. Let each layer dry thoroughly between colors.
You may now finish the metal using a finishing medium of your choice. You can use ICE Resin or Diamond Glaze™, Glossy Accents™ or Crackle Accents™. We chose Diamond Glaze™.
Congratulations. You have successfully colored a metal piece using alcohol inks.
