Step 1

To create the catch side of the clasp, thread a needle with 1.5 feet of thread.

Step 2

Begin weaving in your thread several rows from the end of your piece. Leave a 6 inch tail. Weave the thread towards the end of the piece in a random pattern. Exit between two beads in the last row of the piece where you want the clasp to be. Our piece is 12 beads wide, so we exited between beads 6 and 7 to create a centered clasp.

Step 3

String 5 seed beads, one large bead, and one more seed bead.

Step 4

Weave back down through the larger bead.

Step 5

Weave back down through the 5 seed beads.

Step 6

Weave through the last beads in the first row, exiting out the end bead.

Step 7

To reinforce the clasp, weave back through the piece and exit again between same two beads as in step 2.

Step 8

Weave up through the 5 seed beads and the larger bead.

Step 9

Weave down through the seed bead, the larger bead and the 5 seed beads.

Step 10

Weave through the last beads in the first row again, exiting out the end bead.

Step 11

To end the thread, weave the thread towards the center of the piece in a random pattern across several rows. Exit through the last bead in a row.

Step 12

Pull the thread taut and cut off the remaining tail close to the beads. Repeat this step for the other end of the thread.

Step 13

One side of your clasp is now complete.

Step 14

To create the loop side of the clasp, thread a needle with 1.5 feet of thread.

Step 15

Begin weaving in your thread several rows from the end of your piece. Leave a 6 inch tail. Weave the thread towards the end of the piece in a random pattern. Exit between two beads in the last row of the piece where you want the clasp to be. Our piece is 12 beads wide, so we exited between beads 6 and 7 to create a centered clasp.

Step 16

String 3 seed beads, one seed bead of a contrasting color, and several seed beads to create the loop. Bring the last bead close to the first bead in the loop to see if your larger bead will fit through. Add or subtract beads depending on the fit. We used 16 beads.

Step 17

To create the loop, weave back through the contrasting seed bead and the last 3 seed beads.

Step 18

Weave through the last beads in the first row, exiting out the end bead.

Step 19

To reinforce the clasp, weave back through the piece and exit again between same two beads as in step 14.

Step 20

To reinforce the loop, weave up through the 3 seed beads and the contrasting seed bead.

Step 21

Weave around the loop and back down through the contrasting seed bead and the first 3 seed beads.

Step 22

Weave through the last beads in the first row, exiting out the end bead.

Step 23

To end the thread, weave the thread towards the center of the piece in a random pattern across several rows. Exit through the last bead in a row.

Step 24

Pull the thread taut and cut off the remaining tail close to the beads. Repeat this step for the other end of the thread.

Step 25

Both sides of your clasp are now complete!
