Step 1

To create the catch side of the clasp, thread a needle with 1.5 feet of thread.

Step 2

Begin weaving in several beads in from the end, and work across the piece in a random stepped pattern until you reach the opposite side of the beadwork.

Step 3

Slide the beadwork through the closed loop of an e-clasp.

Step 4

Fold the beadwork over the e-clasp.

Step 5

Make sure the loop is large enough to move easily around the clasp, and then weave straight down through a row on the opposite side to anchor the loop.

Step 6

Weave back up through the row on the opposite side.

Step 7

Reinforce by passing through both rows a few more times.

Step 8

Weave the thread down in a random step pattern across the whole piece.

Step 9

Use sharp scissors to trim the thread close to the beadwork.

Step 10

Trim off the starting thread tail.

Step 11

The first half of your clasp is complete!

Step 12

On the opposite end of the woven piece, add a new thread by following steps 1 and 2.

Step 13

Fold the end of your beadwork to form a loop with the end. This loop will be several rows wider than the loop attached to the other half of the clasp. Slide the loop on and off over the hook to make sure it is large enough.

Step 14

Weave straight down through a row on the opposite side to anchor the loop.

Step 15

Reinforce by passing several times back through the two rows.

Step 16

Weave the thread down in a random step pattern across the whole piece.

Step 17

Use sharp scissors to trim the thread close to the edge. Trim the starting thread tail in the same manner.

Step 18

Congratulations, you have added an e-clasp to a loomed design!
