Step 1

Once you have completed your square stitch piece, weave your thread back into the second to the last row.

Step 2

Exit the fourth bead of the second row.

Step 3

Go up through the bead directly above it.

Step 4

Exit out the third bead from the end, this will place your thread in the center of your bracelet.

Step 5

String five seed beads, one larger bead, and one more seed bead.

Step 6

Go back through the larger bead.

Step 7

Go back through the five seed beads.

Step 8

Go through the last beads of the last row, exiting out the end bead.

Step 9

To reinforce the clasp, weave back through the piece and exit again between the same two beads as in step 4.

Step 10

Go up through the five seed beads, the larger bead and the seed bead.

Step 11

Go back through the larger bead and five seed beads.

Step 12

Go back through the last beads in the last row again, exiting out the end. To reinforce your clasp you will want to go through the clasp at least two times.

Step 13

To end the thread, weave the thread back and forth through several rows. Exit through the last bead in a row.

Step 14

Pull the thread taut and cut it off as close to the beads as possible. Clean up the ends of your thread, using a Perfect End Thread Burner. Burn, or melt, the end of your thread until the end is no longer visible.

Step 15

One side of your clasp is now complete.

Step 16

To create the loop side of the clasp, thread your needle with about 1.5 feet of thread. Begin weaving in your thread several rows from the end of your piece. Weave the thread towards the end of the piece.

Step 17

Exit out the forth bead in the second row.

Step 18

Go up through the bead directly above it.

Step 19

Exit out the forth bead from the end, this will place your thread in the center of your bracelet.

Step 20

String several seed beads to create the loop. Bring the last bead close to the first bead in the loop to see if the larger bead from Step 15 will fit through.

Step 21

To create the loop, weave back through the forth seed bead from the end.

Step 22

Then go back through the last three beads.

Step 23

Go through the last beads of the last row, exiting out the end bead.

Step 24

To reinforce the loop, weave back through the piece and exit again between the same two beads as in step 19.

Step 25

To reinforce the loop, weave up through the four seed beads and through the loop, and then go back down through the four seed beads. To reinforce your loop you will want to go through it at least two times.

Step 26

Go through the last beads of the last row, exiting out the end bead.

Step 27

To end the thread, weave the thread towards the center of the piece across several rows. Exit through the last bead in a row.

Step 28

Pull the thread taut and cut it off as close to the beads as possible. Clean up the ends of your thread, using a Perfect End Thread Burner. Burn or melt the end of your thread until the end is no longer visible.

Step 29

Congratulations, you have learned how to add a clasp to a square stitch piece!
