Step 1

Use two pairs of chain nose pliers to close six jump rings and open three jump rings. To learn how to open and close the jump rings (See the Opening and Closing a Jump Ring  technique.)

Step 2

Slide four closed jump rings on to one open jump ring (shown red). Close the jump ring.

Step 3

Flip two jump rings to one side and the other two in the opposite direction.

Step 4

Slide two closed jump rings onto an open jump ring.

Step 5

Slide the open jump ring through the two jump rings on one end of the chain maille section from step 3. Close the jump ring.

Step 6

Slide an open jump ring through the two jump rings on both ends of the section of chain maille. Close the jump ring, creating a triangular shaped section of chain maille.

Step 7

To better show the pattern, the single jump rings are shown in blue. Slide a piece of wire or twist-tie through the three top jump rings of the pairs sitting flat on the table. While adding additional rings, the wire or twist-tie acts as a handle on the short section of chain maille.

Step 8

Flip over, positioning the attached wire or twist tie at the bottom. Hold the wire in your non-dominant hand. Flip the three top jump rings on the corners outward so you’re looking through the jump ring.

Step 9

Flip the three corner jump rings down, toward the wire or twist tie.

Step 10

Slide an open jump ring through the two jump rings on one corner. When looking at the chain from the end, the new jump ring slides through the inside jump rings.

Step 11

Add an open jump ring through the two jump rings on the second corner of the triangle.

Step 12

Add an open jump ring through the two jump rings on the last corner of the triangle. To better show the pattern, all of the jump rings added in this step will be shown in blue on the next diagram.

Step 13

This is a side view of the chain after completing
the previous steps.

Step 14

Slide an open jump ring through the two jump
rings on one corner. When looking at the chain from
the end, the new jump ring slides through the inside
jump rings.

Step 15

Repeat on the second corner.

Step 16

Repeat on the last corner of the triangle to attach
together the third set of jump rings.

Step 17

This is a side view of the chain after completing
the previous steps.

Step 18

Slide an open jump ring through the two jump rings on one corner. When looking at the chain from the end, the new jump ring slides through the inside jump rings.

Step 19

Repeat on the second corner.

Step 20

Repeat on the last corner of the triangle.

Step 21

Flip the last three jump rings back toward the
beginning of the chain.

Step 22

This is a side view of the chain after completing the previous steps.

Step 23

Add one open ring through two of the three the flipped back rings added in the previous steps. Close the jump ring.

Step 24

Attach a second open jump ring through two of the
three jump rings at the very end of the chain maille.

Step 25

Attach another open jump ring through two of the
three jump rings at the very end of the chain maille.

Step 26

This is a side view of the chain after completing the previous steps.

Step 27

Attach an open jump ring through two of the three
jump rings at the very end of the chain maille.

Step 28

Attach a second open jump ring through two of the
three jump rings at the very end of the chain maille.

Step 29

Attach a third open jump ring through two of the
three jump rings at the very end of the chain maille.

Step 30

This is a side view of the chain after completing the previous steps. Hold the jump rings up as shown.

Step 31

Attach an open jump ring through two of the three
jump rings at the very end of the chain maille.

Step 32

Attach another open jump ring through two of the
three jump rings at the very end of the chain maille.

Step 33

Attach another open jump ring through two of the
three jump rings at the very end of the chain maille.

Step 34

Flip the last three rings back toward the beginning
of the chain.

Step 35

This is a side view of the chain after completing the previous steps and the rings are flipped back.

Step 36

Repeat steps 10-35 until the chain maille reaches the desired length.

Step 37

Attach an open jump ring through two of the three
jump rings at the very end of the chain maille.

Step 38

Attach another open jump ring through two of the
three jump rings at the very end of the chain maille.

Step 39

Attach an open jump ring through the two jump rings
added in the previous step.

Step 40

Repeat steps 37-38 at the other end of the chain maille. Then, slide a lobster clasp onto an open jump ring, slide the open jump ring through the two closed jump rings on the end, and close the jump ring.

Step 41

Congratulations, you have mastered Turkish Round
chain maille!
