You can turn any large focal bead into a finger ring with organic, freeform wraps of wire.

20 gauge dead soft wire or 20 gauge artistic wire

Beads (we used an 18x12mm Swarovski Elements Crystal Polygon Bead and optional 3mm Swarovski Elements Crystal Bicone Beads)

Tip 1	To find your perfect ring size refer to our Ring Sizing Chart before you begin.
Tip 2	For a different look you can add smaller beads to the messy wrap.
Tip 3	Make sure the beads you choose have holes large enough to fit through 20 gauge wire.

Step 1

Cut 36" of 20 gauge wire. String your bead to the center of the wire length.

Step 2

Bend both ends of wire against the bead so they are pointing downward. This will insure that your bead stays in place

Step 3

Position the center of the bead on a ring mandrel one size up from the ring size you desire. We are making a size 7 ring so we positioned the bead at the size 8 mark.

Step 4

Keeping your bead in place and wire taut begin wrapping both ends of wire around the mandrel. The wire should run parallel as it's wrapped around the back of the mandrel.

Step 5

Bring the wire ends back up towards the front bead. The wire ends should now point in the direction they started.

Step 6

Repeat steps 4-5 once more. There should now be a total of 4 wraps of wire around the ring mandrel.

Step 7

With the wire back in front, begin wrapping both wire ends around the base of the bead. After each wrap the wire should point back in the direction it started.

Option:

For a different look you can add smaller beads to the messy wrap you are creating. Simply add the beads to your wire ends, slide them down to the base and wrap the beaded wire around as shown in step 7.

Step 8

Once you have your desired amount of messy wraps hold the wire in place and take the ring form off of the mandrel. Begin wrapping one end of wire around the ring band as close to the bead as possible.

Step 9

Continue to wrap the wire around the ring band a total of three times. Cut the tail end of the wire.

Step 10

Repeat step 9 for the other side of the ring.

Step 11

Place the ring back onto the ring mandrel. Using a plastic mallet gently hammer the back of the ring band so the wire lays flat.

Step 12

Continue hammering until you have the ring size you desire. Hammering with the plastic mallet will also harden your wire without damaging it.

Step 13

Congratulations! You have now completed a messy wire wrapped ring with or without multiple beads.
