Step 1

Cut a 5-ft. piece of clear beading thread. String 5 beads (the beads shown are 4 mm fire polish beads). Leave a 3- inch tail.

Step 2

Pass back through the first bead strung, creating a fivebead circle.

Step 3

Reinforce by passing several times through all the beads in the loop. Pass back through the first beads strung.

Step 4

String four beads.

Step 5

Pass back through the first bead from the original loop of five beads, creating a second loop.

Step 6

Pass back through the first bead strung to create the second loop.

Step 7

String three beads.

Step 8

Pass back through the second bead of the original fivebead loop and the first bead of the second loop to finish the third loop. Pull the thread tight. Each loop shares one bead with the first loop, the one bead with previous loop, and will be attached with one bead to the next loop added.

Step 9

Pass through the rest of the beads strung in third loop.

Step 10

Pass back through the third bead in the original five-bead loop.

Step 11

String three beads.

Step 12

Pass back through the fourth bead of the third loop and the third bead of the original base loop.

Step 13

Pass back through the first bead strung on the fourth loop.

Step 14

String three beads.

Step 15

Pass back through the fourth bead of the base loop and back through the first bead of the fourth loop.

Step 16

Pass back through the three beads strung in step 14.

Step 17

Pass through the fifth bead of the original bead loop.

Step 18

Pass through the last bead of the first loop.

Step 19

String two beads.

Step 20

Pass back through the last bead of the fifth loop.

Step 21

Pass back through the fifth bead of the original bead loop and the last bead of the second loop.

Step 22

Pass back through the first bead strung to make the sixth loop.

Step 23

The first six loops create a cup shape, with the first loop at the bottom. Those six loops are shown in gray, and sit behind the developing rows in the diagram. Six loops create the first half of a circular bead, and the next five loops will create the second half of the bead, cupping back in the opposite direction to form a sphere.

Step 24

String three beads.

Step 25

Pass back through the first bead of the sixth loop and the third bead of the second loop.

Step 26

Pass back through the first bead of the seventh loop.

Step 27

String two beads.

Step 28

Pass back through the first bead of the seventh loop, completing the eight loop.

Step 29

Pass back through the two beads strung in step 27.

Step 30

Pass through the last bead of the fifth loop, and then through the second bead of the fourth loop.

Step 31

String two beads.

Step 32

Pass through the second bead of the eighth loop.

Step 33

Pass through the last bead of the fifth loop, the second bead of the fourth loop and the first bead strung in step 31.

Step 34

String two beads.

Step 35

Pass back through the first bead strung in step 31, the first/last bead of step 3 and the third bead of the fourth loop.

Step 36

Pass back through the first bead strung in step 31, and the two beads strung in step 34.

Step 37

Pass through the first bead of the third loop, the second bead of the first loop and the last bead strung in step 24.

Step 38

String one bead.

Step 39

Pass back through the last bead strung in step 34, the first bead of the third loop, the second bead of the first loop and the last bead strung in step 24.

Step 40

Pass through all five beads in the center of the five previous loops, closing the twelfth loop of the bead.

Step 41

Reinforce by passing around the twelfth loop several times.

Step 42

Weave the thread through the existing structure, to reinforce the structure.

Step 43

Cut the thread close to the bead.

Step 44

On the opposite side of the bead, weave the tail of the thread into the structure of the bead and trim off the excess thread.

Step 45

Congratulations, you have made a woven beaded bead!
