Print this Technique

Step 1
Once you have completed your flat peyote weave piece, stitch through the last rows until the needle is coming out of the second "up" bead from the edge of the strap.

Step 2
String five size 11 seed beads, one 6mm bead and one more size 11 seed bead.

Step 3
Pass back through the 6mm bead and five size 11 seed beads.

Step 4
Pass through the third "up" bead from the edge of the strap and pull the thread tight.

Step 5
Weave down through the beadwork and back toward the nearest edge of the strap.

Step 6
Reinforce the clasp by passing through the seed beads and 6mm bead a second time.

Step 7
Repeat steps 5-6, reinforcing the thread path one more time to ensure the clasp is strong and secure.

Step 8
Stitch through the beadwork toward the far side of the bracelet until the needle exits the third "up" bead from the edge.

Step 9
String five size 11 seed beads, one 6mm bead and one more size 11 seed bead.

Step 10
Pass through the second "up" bead from the edge of the strap and pull the thread tight.

Step 11
Weave through the beadwork and back toward the center of the strap, then turn back through the third "up" bead.

Step 12
Reinforce the clasp by passing through the seed beads and 6mm bead a second time.

Step 13
Repeat steps 11-12, reinforcing the thread path one more time to ensure the clasp is strong and secure.

Step 14
Weave the thread into the beadwork to secure.

Step 15
Trim the thread close to the beadwork. You have completed the bead half of the clasp.

Step 16
Begin the other half of the clasp using the tail thread or, if needed, add a new thread to begin making the loops.

Step 17
Weave the thread through the beadwork until it exits the second "up" bead from the edge of the strap.

Step 18
String 19 size 11 seed beads onto the thread. This number may vary depending on the size of bead used for the other portion of the clasp.

Step 19
Pass back through the last four beads, creating a 15-bead loop. Check the loop by sliding it over the bead portion of the clasp. If necessary, pull the thread back through the last four beads to add or remove beads so the loop fits snugly, but not too tight.

Step 20
Pass through the third "up" bead from the edge of the strap and pull the thread tight.

Step 21
Weave through the beadwork and back toward the edge of the strap, then turn back and go through the second "up" bead.

Step 22
Reinforce the clasp by passing through the seed beads and 6mm bead a second time.

Step 23
Repeat steps 21-22, reinforcing the thread path one more time to ensure the clasp is strong and secure.

Step 24
Weave through the beadwork toward the opposite side of the strap until the needle exits the third "up" bead from the edge.

Step 25
String 19 size 11 seed beads onto the thread.

Step 26
Pass back through the last four beads, creating a 15-bead loop.

Step 27
Weave through the beadwork and back toward the edge of the strap, then turn back and go through the third "up" bead.

Step 28
Reinforce the clasp by passing through the seed beads and 6mm bead a second time.

Step 29
Repeat steps 27-28, reinforcing the thread path one more time to ensure the clasp is strong and secure.

Step 30
Weave the thread into the beadwork to secure.

Step 31
Trim the thread close to the beadwork. You have completed the bead half of the clasp.

Step 32
Congratulations, you have successfully added a bead and loop clasp to a peyote stitch bracelet!
