You will need metal stamps, a hammer, bench block, stamping blank, and alcohol ink. You will also need paper towel and masking tape.
Lay the stamping blank on a bench block. Use a piece of masking tape to hold the blank down and to use as a guide for the lettering. Choose the first metal stamp. Hold the stamp so that the impression will be right side up.
Line up the letter to be stamped using the reflection in the silver and the masking tape.
Hold the stamp straight up and down. Using a heavy brass hammer, hit the top of the letter stamp with one good hard blow.
This should leave a clean, deep impression of the letter or design.
Continue stamping the blank. Line up the next letter using the reflection.
Continue stamping until you have completed your saying or design. Remove the stamping blank from the bench block.
Drop a drop of alcohol ink onto the stamping blank.
Tilt the blank so the ink moves over the stamped area.
Make sure the ink covers the entire stamped area.
Wipe the excess ink off the blank using paper towel and let the recessed ink dry thoroughly.
Congratulations! You have added color to your stamping blank using alcohol ink.
